About me

I’m a fiction writer based in the Netherlands, originally from the American Midwest. Most of my writing blurs the boundary between literary and speculative fiction (as meaningless as those labels are). The authors that have left the biggest marks on me include Denis Johnson, Ursula K. Le Guin, C Pam Zhang, Hermann Hesse, Lauren Groff, Stephen Graham Jones, Octavia Butler, Diane Williams, and Brian Evenson.

You can find most of my published pieces on the “Writing and interviews” page. These days, my creative energy is mostly flowing into my first novel, tentatively called The Ghost of Us. I’m in the editing stage and hope to start querying by early 2023.

On the editorial side, I’m the fiction editor of Reservoir Road Literary Review, co-founder and editor of Icebreakers Lit, and associate fiction editor and reader for Fatal Flaw Literary Magazine.
